The Valley of the Orotava is the place by which the well knwon Alexander von Humboldt, father of modern geography, was so fascinated by that he later on wrote about this place in his novels, describing the contrast of the land of fire and the deep green color which can be found throughout the valley.


The Valley, which extends along the Teide, is further spread into three different communities: La Orotava, Los Realejos and Puerto de la Cruz. The Valley of La Orotava was the place where the first christian temple was built in the Canary Islands and for the wine lovers the Valley also is very interesting: Here you can find some wineyards with some extensive history. In the XVI, XVII and XVIII century the wine "Malvasia" converted the Port of Puerto de la Cruz into the most important one of the Canary Islands.

The Natural Reserve Pinolere is an ecological space which can be discover by foot and with no doubt this place is one of the most beautiful ones of the Island.

The Valley of La Orotava is for sure worth a visit when you are on the Island of Tenerife and as Humboldt did, you will leave it fascinated by the spectacular views over the ocean, the Teide and the wide forests.

Parque Rural de Teno

At the extreme northwest of the Island of Tenerife, El Parque Rural de Teno is one of the most beautiful places full of contrasts and beauty!

This impressive mountain provides a quantity things which are of great scientific interest like the landscape, the ethnography and the history. One will find here also important masses of forests and a different variety of animals and vegetables.

Furthermore, the beauty of the place provoked the conversion into a special protection zone for birds.

Enjoy this diversity of landscapes!

From the Punta de Teno, the most occidental point of the island, with an old lighthouse, you will have a panoramic view over Los Gigantes's cliffes which have a height of 600 meters.

To go there, you have to follow a road from Buenavista del Norte.

With the turquoise and transparent ocean on its both sides, you will find a lot of tourists who come to this place for the amazing views, to relax and to plunge from the higher point of the cliff.

The Parque Rural de Teno includes five populations, it means Los Carrizales with 61 inhabitants, Masca with 161 inhabitants, El Palmar with 620 inhabitants, Las Portelas with 415 inhabitants and Teno Alto with 138 inhabitants.
